Why this card
The reported seed is that overharvesting collapsed Chesapeake oyster reefs, and local researchers and residents are now trialing creative ways to bring them back. The imagined consequence is that by 2040 those techniques have rebuilt living reefs whose natural filter-feeding clears the water, reviving seagrass and fish. The poster shows that second-order payoff: a public wading-in day where ordinary people help plant shells and the bay's newly clear water becomes the attraction.
