By 2042, I imagine that acceptance supporting skilled neighborhood lending wardrobes, where alterable celebration clothes accumulate contributions from successive borrowers. Sixteen years gives those services—and the coats’ visible histories—time to grow, making dressing for a party a shared ritual rather than another purchase.
