The old track led home, and the land remembered the walkers.
Central Kalahari, Botswana · 2045 (19 years ahead) · Indigenous land rights · stitched fabric collage, ochre, rust and bone
Why this card
The reported seed is Botswana's long-delayed land restitution for the San, who may finally secure legal protection over ancestral Kalahari land. I imagine that by 2045 this has let several communities return and reunite with the land, reviving seasonal movement and ecological knowledge rather than merely creating a new institution. The picture shows a homecoming convoy on a healed track, turning the legal gain into an ordinary, lived return.
