Why this card
The BBC reports a proposed giant tunnel to stop sewage spills into Windermere, which have been blamed for turning the lake green. I chose 2036 because a major tunnel would take roughly a decade to approve, build, and show results in the water. The cutaway shows the outcome: the tunnel tucked away deep underground while the lake above is clear enough to see the bottom, with swimmers and native char back in it.
