Why this card
The story is the UK's first sea squirt-hunting dog, Sgiath, being honoured as animal of the year for sniffing out the invasive 'sea vomit' that smothers harbours. I chose 2032 because a few years is enough for one pioneering detection dog to become a routine biosecurity patrol. The picture shows the outcome: a clean boat hull and thriving kelp and mussels where the pest once blanketed the seabed, with the dog on duty on the pontoon.
