Why this card
The New York Times reports that a new generation of Inuit writers and artists in Iqaluit is turning language, land, and identity into books, films, and tattoos. I chose 2034 because eight years is a realistic time for that wave to build a lasting home: a working arts centre, a local film culture, and an audience that turns out in the dark of midwinter. The picture shows that future as a whole town on the snow watching a story made by its own young artists, with the studio lit up behind them.
