Why this card
The news reports South Africa naming Durban for its Olympic bids, not an awarded Games. Imagining a successful 2040 bid with affordable public access built into the venue plans, 2048 allows time for the competition pool to become an established neighborhood gathering place. The relay shows the downstream prize: residents inheriting somewhere to swim together, rather than merely somewhere to watch champions.
