The old sprayer now houses the pest control.
Citrus farm, South Africa · 2034 (8 years ahead) · farmworker health · claymation still, citrus orange and leaf green
Why this card
Mongabay reports that South Africa is turning to alternatives to chemical pesticides to protect farmworkers' health. I chose 2034 because changing farm practice and building supply chains for beneficial insects realistically takes about eight years. The picture shows that future: workers releasing ladybirds without protective suits, wildflower strips between the rows, and the old chemical sprayer retired to become a home for the insects that replaced it.
